I am going to be blunt about this, the following content may be described by some sources as "risque". It is what I was called to shoot and there's nothing wrong with someone baring a little skin. No body shaming is allowed. I am fortunate enough to have individuals such as Ashley Reynolds who are more than willing to be comfortable around me and trust in my ability to capture them well. It's a sense of trust that has been established and I love that aspect of photography. You and your subject rely on one another to get the shot quality in mind put into process. You feed off of each other's energy. It's a beautiful and unique concept, which continues to fuel all of my photographic endeavors.
This was a photo session that I particularly enjoyed because it forced me to work in a low light setting. I had to keep an eye out for the way the sun was peering through the different structures and bouncing off of walls, even the water once we got down to it. As the sun sets, the changes in lighting continue to fluctuate, sometimes even drastically depending on the amount of trees and other vegetation that is around. But, Ashley and I persevered. She was patient as I tested my camera settings and I must admit that her tenacity paid off (as you will see below).
The creative direction of this shoot was based off of what I was told from the owner of All The Tiny Pieces - dark, romantic and floral. There's still room to capture the floral part but I think we nailed the dark and romantic side of it. Regardless, this happens to be one of my favorite photo sets. It's fulfilling when you recognize your own level of personal growth and achievement. I am sure that I am not the best but, I also know that I am better than I was. Hats off to Ashley for killing it in front of the lens last week. So proud of her and I admire her level of self-confidence.
